Understanding invitation rounds for skilled visas
A plain-language look at how invitation rounds work for points-tested skilled visas — and what they do not tell you.
What an invitation means
An invitation to apply is not a visa grant. It means you may lodge a visa application within a set period if you still meet the criteria you claimed in your Expression of Interest.
Points are only part of the picture
Occupation ceilings, state nomination priorities, and your overall competitiveness in the pool all influence outcomes. A high points score improves standing but does not create a right to an invitation.
